COVID
NSW is winning the active cases game with 20 on the scoreboard, followed closely by 19 in South Australia. Victoria is on 3 active cases (2 of which are in hospital, so there really is only 1 active case in the wild!).
Which brings me to the question – why has life not returned to normal with only 1 active case? We’re all still wearing masks (unless you are drinking an obligatory latte, have food in hand or sitting at a dining table). I drove down Chapel st on the weekend, and there were so many businesses for lease. Lygon St was totally dead and empty for a Saturday lunch. The rules and restrictions don’t seem necessary anymore.
The gyms are open but I can’t seem to get a booking in, it seems like there’s extra rules requiring a marshal there, so the 24 hour gym is not open 24 hours, it’s not even open on Sunday! Gym is usually an early evening or a late evening thing for me. Sometimes I’m at the gym 9:30pm- 10:30pm. I have been at Derrimut 247 at close to midnight before as well.
15,449,192 active cases in the world. 1,319,375 people dead. The numbers just keep going higher globally….maybe Keanu Reeves will save us?
The news last week was the Pfizer clinical trials had a 90% success rate. Also interesting to note that the CEO of Pfizer sold 60% of his stock after that announcement.. In the cryptocurrency world, we call that a “pump and dump.”
The death per million is interesting, the highest total is 1209 in Belgium, meaning that for every 1 million people, 1209 people died. The averages of all the other countries looks like it’s in the 700’s. Would be interesting to compare it to other causes of death I think.
This idiot thinks we should tax those people who work from home more in order to prop up the commercial real estate business. Melbourne city council is trying to get some CEOs to pledge to bring 70% of employees back. So it sounds like the following places don’t really have flexible working – ANZ, Optus, PwC and NBN Co.
I found this tool for assessing the risk of attending events in various regions interesting. They only have data for US and parts of Europe (including France) Below is for attending a 25 person event. Which brings me to the point that data itself is not interesting, but we need to be able to get HELPFUL insight from the data. Too many times a data guys will put together a dashboard and I’m thinking “WTF?! why are you crowding me with all this information, this is useless.”
Time to relax and have a quarantinee
Markets and Finance
Ray Dalio thinks Yuan will be the world reserve currency. I think the old man is smoking crack, the current empire is not China. The current empire is “the internet”. And China is not run like a company, a company doesn’t use violence against its employees and if it did, the employee can leave. That’s not to say his opinion is completely wrong, you also can’t have a country run based on a 2 horse race popularity contest. Episode 87 of Once BITten with Michael Saylor and Jeff Booth also go into the issues with Ray Dalio view, particularly with his view on bitcoin.
Even Nouriel Roubini admins that bitcoin has value. Bitcoin is now trading at around $16,000 USD or $22,400 AUD.
Pauline Hanson raised a motion calling on the Aus government to boycott the World Economci Forum’s great reset agenda. However it was defeated 2-37, which means we’re on track to do whatever the global elites will tell us.
Banking is a Ponzi scheme. There’s a lot of positive spin being put in the media that everything is looking up, but if that were the case then why are the central banks throwing all this money at it. George Gammon has the same conclusion as me!

I don’t normally listen to conversations with actors but I found this one with Matthew McConaughey, highly entertaining, funny and insightful on his attitude to life.
The difference between professional and amateurs thread is a great read.
You can now send mail using the traditional owners of the land, no not the dinosaurs, the other traditional owners. If you’re not sure you can check a map here. Obviously don’t do this if you’re in France, La Poste will never know what you’re on about and it will only travel as far as the bin in the post office.

I just discovered GraphQL, it’s a API schema from Facebook, which seems like a great alternative to REST API, in that you only expose 1 API endpoint and hence the person hitting the endpoint can pass it a query instead of hitting multiple different endpoints.. I found these videos helpful on the structure of the query and how to make it.

Update on my computer building. I’m down to 2 possible case choices.
Lian Li PC-O11 Dynamic XL ROG Certified Case Black – For a possible future water cooling. Also cause it’s so popular.
Fractal Design Define 7 XL Tempered Glass Dark Tint Black – Still seems like this one is going to be the winner as the universe has decided I should be starting with air cooling. The Noctua D15 CPU cooler was on sale, with a deep discount and it has arrived in the post from Taiwan yesterday. The box is huge! It’s larger than the size of 4 tissue boxes stacked in a 2×2 configuration.
Anyway have a great week, and here’s a Monday morning motivation video for you from Kevin Hart.
