4 week extension to the state of emergency. Victoria is at 1159 active cases, down from 1872 last week. 116 people in hospital. From today we are allowed back to playgrounds and can be out until 9pm.
Still 149 active cases in NSW.
Oh look! It’s the Roman legion! Oh wait, that’s just Vic market.
Announcing mass vaccination sites before a vaccine is ready is usually called putting the cart before the horse. Does mainstream media have nothing to write about, or does the government want to give the illusion of progress?
You can quarantine in a resort in Darwin, before moving to another state. The letter from Sarah to the QLD premier to attend her father’s funeral makes me sad and outraged.
New food delivery concepts in Melbourne. There have been quite a few dark kitchen popups. What is a dark kitchen? These are restaurants that have no tables, no retail front, it’s just a kitchen with ordering system. I’m sure some of you have seen flyers in your letterbox.
The world has 7,301,484 active cases, and 927,179 total deceased. Apparently Boris Johnson thinks they will need a freedom pass even though you’re a free citizen. Kind of sounds like China linking COVID trace system to the social credit score. Also could this Chinese virologist claim be true? And continuing the theme of erosion of the people’s rights, France tried to suppress free speech by banning a book, which just drew attention to the book and made it sell out. Meanwhile in Melbourne, here’s the continuation of that guy who got a door knock from police in the middle of the night. The end highlights a point that what you see in mainstream media is not the whole truth. Check out the image of what airport looks like in India, most people even wearing protection clothing.
Mitch Malone – CTO of Linktree who has been remote working for 9 years, and joined Linktree and has never met the people he works with face to face. He also talks about life working from a caravan while travelling.
Here are some ideas to re-imagine your future remote working.
-Work from a cafe (once it re-open), to get the feeling of a lively atmosphere. Freelancers, solopreneurs and remote tech workers do this all the time.
-Work at odd times that fit your schedule with kids and your own mental productivity. However don’t send emails at odd times, it encourages a toxic culture of always need to be on. Use the scheduler or save to draft
-Work from a holiday location in another part of Australia.
-Work outside in the summer (in the shade of course, nothing worst than sun glare on your screen).
-Work from an overseas location. (Done this 4 years ago from the garden furniture in the middle of a French summer).
I’m sure you’ve seen messages like this around, but this is an unfortunate placement, as I’m sure I can manage on my own, thanks.
Markets and Economics
Lynette Zang – chief Market Analyst at ITM Trading talks about the currency reset is here. This makes me so bearish. It’s worth listening to. Former Congressman Ron Paul also thinks that the system is on the brink of collapse. The World Economic Forum thinks it’s time for the Great Reset, however the picture they chose to use kind of implies that fascism and communism unite against the free world, and the comments from people are always fun.
Simon Dixon says you should basically be taking your money out of the banks. Cash use has gone down, but Australians have been holding it more than ever. In the future we will look back at this as a good example of Gresham’s law in action.
Did you know the origins of the word “Bank Holiday” it use to be something that could be declared during the great depression to prevent a run on the banks? Basically in 1933 Great depression, Franklin Roosevelt could declare a bank holiday, which means that all banks in the country closed and were only allowed to re-open once their solvency was verified by government inspectors.
What is quantitative easing? “Take printer out of box and place on table with the out tray facing the window…“. Hilarious
I found this episode interesting about buying and storing gold in the Cayman Islands. Since it’s the Caribbean, it works if your name is Jack and you are a pirate…
Maybe everything you read in mainstream media about China and our journalist being interrogated by China could be wrong. It’s possible that our government kicked out some Chinese people first.
Good episode about the colliding of the bitcoin and the macro world.
French food app just started accepting Bitcoin. Bitcoin holding at a level of around 10,400 USD.
Other Stuff
Need a snack but have nothing at home? Try butter, sugar on bread. Obviously not a healthy snack. Like many things in life, there are multiple levels to this:
Level 0 – Just spread butter onto bread, sprinkle sugar and eat. Kind of like fairy bread. Use Buttersoft.
Level 1 – Toast bread, spread butter while still hot, sprinkle sugar, and eat.
Level 2 – Spread butter onto bread. Sprinkle sugar. Fold in half and toast both side in griller which allows the butter and sugar to caramelise.
Level 3 – Like level 2 but add some lime zest and juice in the middle when it comes out.
Master level – Make your own butter from scratch, bread from scratch, and follow level 3.
Grandmaster level – Like Master level, however you also get the milk directly from the cow for your butter. Sing to your lime tree each night and grow your own sugar cane.
My friend Bethan has come out with a podcast about Journaling with Nature. There were some late nights answering technical audio questions. If you’re interested in journaling and nature, then please subscribe.
My productivity song has been Eminem – Lose yourself on guitar. So much talent.
If you are interested in philosophy then Alan Watts’s view of the world might interest you. This video is quite easy to digest. Here’s a quote from him:
“The meaning of life is just to be alive.
It is so plain and so obvious and so simple.
And yet, everybody rushes about in a great panic as if it were necessary to achieve something beyond themselves.“
